Robin White: Tuituia | Something is Happening Here

A touring exhibition from Te Papa and Auckland Art Gallery Discover iconic works by Dame Robin White in this major touring exhibition from Te Papa and Auckland Art Gallery. Spanning 50 years, it brings together portraits, landscapes, and collaborative works shaped by people and place across Aotearoa and the Pacific. Robin White: Tuituia | Something is Happening Here presents a powerful selection of works by Dame Robin White (Ngāti Awa, Pākehā). Drawn from the much‑loved 2022 retrospective presented by Te Papa and Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki, this exhibition celebrates one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most influential contemporary artists. Spanning five decades, the exhibition includes White’s well‑known portraits and Aotearoa landscapes from the 1970s alongside later collaborative works made with artists and communities across the Pacific and Aotearoa. Together, the works reflect White’s enduring focus on everyday life, relationships, and environment. The title, Tuituia, speaks to continuity and the act of binding together. Throughout her career, Robin White has connected art, people, and place, creating works shaped as much by community and collaboration as by individual practice.
